Can't make it to the city council meeting tonight? We got it covered.

Reporter Cassie Knust will be heading to the biweekly meeting tonight at 6pm, and giving some live updates on NABUR.

Got any questions for the councilmembers? Send them over to Cassie by replying on her NABUR post, and she'll be sure to ask and answer.

Tonight, the council will be discussing a proposal to rezone Lot 1 and Outlot A of the Yocum Subdivision and the adjacent right-of-ways, a $75,900 contract to Agave Construction for construction of the Hawk Parkway Sidewalk Extension project, and expanding opportunities to access child care in family child care homes.

Cassie gave some additional information about each point on NABUR. Be sure to comment and follow along to stay up to date.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold stopped in Montrose last week. What do you think about her tenure so far? Reporter Cassie Knust sat down for an interview with Griswold, where she discussed election security and voting access.

Griswold also mentioned her recently denied request to receive funding from a PAC for personal security. She made the request after repeated death threats on social media.

What do you think about Griswold's remarks? Head to NABUR to reply, read more about the interview and also hear a brief audio clip of Griswold speaking about her security concerns.

There's an Oktoberfest celebration this weekend. Are you attending? The event will take place Oct. 9 in the newly built Rotary Amphitheater at Cerise Park. All Points Transit organized the event as one of its main fundraisers, with several sponsors like the City of Montrose, Telluride Express and Peak Professionals. I posted about the event on NABUR.

NABUR member John W.N. replied, "This year's Oktoberfest will be truly spectacular, both in terms of content and in terms of location. The Rotary Amphitheater is magnificent and the the content of the event is greatly expanded. All Points Transit has been providing exception transportation service to the area for over 36 years even during the Pandemic. It also delivered meals and delivered many to medical appointments, as well as service the general public. It is a wonderful group of folks who truly support our region and its people."

Do you agree with John? Have you been to an Oktoberfest celebration before? What are you most excited about this year? Reply on NABUR.

The substitute teacher shortage hits Montrose. What else could the district do? Like elsewhere in the nation, Montrose is battling a sub shortage this year. Approximately 1 out of every 4 sub teacher positions are going unfilled, leaving school administrators scrambling to fill positions.

Reporter Anna Lynn Winfrey posted about the shortage on NABUR, and is wondering what else you think the district could do. Do you have an answer? Have you ever thought about substitute teaching? What would convince you to do so? Reply on NABUR.
